I may be the only person on the planet saying this,
but I'm not really big on music. No doubt I like it and spend a few hours every
day listening to it but I don’t go crazy over it like I do with other things. The
theme of this movie is an undergraduate music student that enters the class of
a quite –shall we say- strict teacher that claims that to tell someone that he
is good, holds him back from expanding his talents and reaching his limits.
It goes on like this: He gets picked up by a really strict teacher and practices
with his band. He starts practising more and more and under the care of this
teacher his character changes to become a completely different person than the
one he was when he entered the school.
Part of the reason why I liked it was because the
naturally “good” character (which was the protagonist) acted pretty selfishly,
mean and stupidly and the naturally “bad” character always had a reason behind
his every move. So I found that they felt like real people that really want
something and go out of their way to get it, maybe not always in the good sense.
Other than that the movie was full of action and great
acting, I really felt stressed when the characters where stressed, especially
at a certain scene towards the end (no spoilers). The end is something that I
also didn’t expect so I liked that as well.
All in all a really
fast-paced movie about people that really love their art and play with the
boundaries of morality to get to their goals, it’s definitely one of those that
will leave you asking moral questions and talking about it in a deeper level.
